At just fourteen, young Richard Hellmann discovered a love of food while still an apprentice at his local grocery store. He only became really successful after moving to New York.
Here Richard met his wife Margaret, who happened to be the daughter of two delicatessen owners. And in 1913, Richard and Margaret realised their dream of opening a business, and Hellmann's Delicatessen was born.
